Corporate Gifts and Support For Employee Giving

For many decades, Darigold has “shown up” when there are needs in the communities where we live, work and market our products. Some of our larger financial contributions are listed below, but equally important are the many small donations Darigold has made to local schools, museums, food banks, non-profits, libraries, radio stations, and colleges in response to requests from community members.

Our producers, management and employees are all committed to giving back to our communities.

These contributions went to more than 100 organizations from micro to large regional non-profits and academic institutions. We occasionally make larger contributions to academic institutions, research institutes and foundations to fund research related to food science, agriculture, and initiatives particularly linked with our business. Over the past several years, Darigold’s major cash donations have been:

Fighting Hunger with Milk

Northwest Harvest Donation

Darigold has been donating milk to Northwest Harvest since 2013. The value of the donation is nearly $75,000 per year. Darigold delivers half-gallon 2% milk from our Portland plant to Northwest Harvest's warehouse. The milk is distributed from there to about 4,000 families each month to community food banks throughout Seattle – including Georgetown, Rainier Valley and Wallingford – as well as across the state to Central and Eastern Washington. Guests at a food bank in Jefferson County have said: "We never thought we'd have fresh milk, and are happy to receive it from our local dairy." Food banks rarely have fresh milk, given refrigeration challenges. Darigold's donation helps families provide children with essential nutrition to support growth and learning.

2012-2018

Fundraising Leadership

City of Hope Cancer Research & Treatment

In addition to our direct donations, Darigold, together with Northwest grocery retailers, has played a leadership role for 25 years in organizing and hosting the City of Hope Golf Classic, a major fundraiser in the Seattle area benefitting a leading cancer research and treatment center in Duarte, California. The tournament raised more than $500,000 from 2012-2016.

Corporate & Employee Giving

Heartfelt Contributions

Darigold’s cash donations and employee matching gifts are heartfelt contributions from our people. Essentially, Darigold corporate gifts come out of the wallets of our producers, out of money that might go to make payroll, hire more people on the farms or in our processing plants, pay higher wages, invest in upgrading equipment or send their kids to college. Darigold must balance our commitment to giving back with the financial realities on the ground for producer-families often struggling to cope with volatile milk prices, shrinking and shifting markets, and increased input costs. We pair corporate gifts and employee matching contributions with product donations and volunteering in our communities. Darigold is committed to doing what we can in all four arenas – corporate giving, employee gift matching, product donations and volunteering.
